Why can't SecureIDsafe reset my password or recover my account?

Because we don't hold your key. The entire platform is built on a zero-knowledge custody model: your data is encrypted on your device before it ever touches our servers, and the decryption key never leaves your possession. There is no backdoor key on our side, no master override, and no employee — at any level — who can decrypt your data. If we could reset your access, it would mean we could also read your data, which would break the entire security promise. This is a feature, not a limitation.

What happens if I lose my seed phrase?

Your data becomes permanently irrecoverable. There is no support ticket, no identity verification, no secondary email, and no escalation path that can restore access — by design. We cannot stress this enough: if both your signed-in device and your seed phrase are lost, your vault is sealed forever. This is the price of true sovereignty over your data, and we ask every subscriber to acknowledge it explicitly before enrolment.

Why is the recovery non-bypassable? Why not offer optional email or SMS recovery?

Any recovery channel you add becomes a channel an attacker can compromise. Email accounts get phished, SIM cards get swapped, and support desks get socially engineered — these are the most common ways 'secure' accounts actually fall. The moment we offer a fallback, your security drops to the security of that fallback. By making the seed phrase the only path, your security stays equal to the security of a 24-word secret you alone hold. We deliberately remove every weaker link.

How should I store my 24 words safely?

Write them down by hand on paper — never type them into a phone, screenshot them, or save them in a cloud note. Store the paper offline, in a location only you know: a locked drawer, a safe, or a safety deposit box. For critical use, consider stamping or engraving the words onto metal (fireproof) and keeping a second copy in a geographically separate location. Never store the phrase on the same device you use to access the vault, and never share it with anyone — including us.

Do I need my seed phrase every time I log in?

Accepted Answer

No. You use your normal email and password for day-to-day sign-in, plus any multi-factor authentication you've enabled. The seed phrase is only needed to recover access — for example, if you lose your device, forget your password, or your session is wiped. Think of it as the master spare key to a vault you normally open with your regular keys. Keep it somewhere you can reach in an emergency, but it does not need to be part of your daily routine.

Can SecureIDsafe staff ever access my data?

No. Our staff can manage account billing and infrastructure, but they cannot decrypt your stored content. Everything you store arrives at our servers already encrypted with keys derived from your seed phrase. Even under a legal subpoena, the only thing we could produce is encrypted ciphertext we cannot read.
